Earlier this week I attended Hitomi Gilliam’s design study workshop at Faith Flowers in Atlanta. During the last several months, I have wanted to learn more about the elements and principles of design, and this workshop definitely sated my appetite.
I am listing the elements and principles of design in a separate blog post to follow. Writing about something helps me to think it through and allows the information to seep into my brain. In this post, however, I will share some of the cool things we did in the workshop….
Below is a peach and white bouquet with roses and carnations that I created using the traditional European spiral technique that Hitomi taught us.
Below is a natural armature (i.e. framework or grid) of branches that Hitomi created.
This is the vase and armature that Hitomi created by binding together (with bullion wire) branches around the inside and outside of the vase.
