In May I had the opportunity to work with Ashley Nicole Events, Taylor Rae Photography, and Emily Kotarski Bridal on a photo shoot at the Cedar Room. More of Taylor’s gorgeous photos from this day can be seen in Smitten Magazine.
The photo shoot was designed to help spread the word about Ashley’s new business, Scoops, Wheely Good Ice Cream Bike. This ice cream bike is a perfect addition to weddings. I mean, who doesn’t love ice cream + wedding cake?
Because ice cream was the inspiration behind the shoot, I wanted the bouquet to mimic the colors, textures, and composition of berry-flavored ice cream.
I incorporated locally grown white orlaya, purple sweet peas, and blush peonies from Sea Island Flower Farm. I also used white Majolica spray roses, dark pink Lydia spray roses, lavender Ocean Song roses, purple Cool Water roses, and dark purple hydrangea.
I chose a vase that resembled the texture of a waffle cone to add to the ice cream theme.
We thought it would be fun to use bowls for the ice cream and incorporate those into the tablescape. The beautiful bowls that Ashley selected perfectly highlighted the colors of the ice cream.
The lovely custom bridal gown from Emily Kotarski Bridal complemented the look and feel of the photo shoot. And can we talk about the walls, windows, and lighting of the Cedar Room for a minute! I love this space.
One of the best things about this shoot – besides the awesome people involved – was that we got to eat ice cream at the end. I had the strawberry cheese cake ice cream …. yum. It was super delicious.
